Programming in C Learning Guide: Series Index
Learn to reason about a program before memorizing its syntax. This original Programming in C learning guide begins with no assumed C knowledge. It is the first subject in TechVani's semester-by-semester learning track. The semester label is a study route, not a claim that every institution uses the same syllabus.
How this guide differs from Exam Notes
Each chapter teaches a method from the basics: a precise problem, a manual trace, a complete tested program, explained wrong turns, practice with checked answers, and exam-style questions with answers after each teaching topic. The separate revision notes and lab files remain available; this guide does not replace them.

Part 1: From a Problem to a C Program. Learn problem contracts, algorithms, manual traces, integer division and remainder, a first C program, build errors and boundary tests. The chapter includes tested code, verified output, Run controls and checked practice.
The learning route
- From a problem to a C program: explain the problem, trace the steps, build and test.
- Variables, types and input/output: represent data and read it safely, with limits made explicit.
- Decisions: translate conditions into branches and check edge cases.
- Loops: choose a repeated step, show progress and prove when it stops.
- Functions: separate responsibilities and state the input/output contract.
- Arrays and strings: track bounds, indexes and string termination.
- Pointers: distinguish an object, its address and access through that address.
- Structures and files: group related data and handle storage failures.
- A small project: combine the methods, tests and error handling.
These are planned stages, not links to chapters that do not yet exist. A stage may need more than one chapter. This page will link only published chapters. Quality, not a word count, decides when a chapter is ready.
Use the guide actively
- Write down the inputs, expected output and assumptions before reading the answer.
- Trace the example by hand. Then use its Run control and compare actual and expected output.
- Attempt the practice before opening the checked answers. Explain why each wrong approach fails.
- Check your course syllabus for topics or standards beyond this guide. No guide can guarantee a result in every exam.
Other C study routes
C Exam Notes are for compact revision. The C lab file provides additional complete programs. The Online Compiler is available for your own experiments.
